The Sara behind Saranovela
Sara Marquez is a Manila-bred, New York-based illustrator who is thoroughly obsessed with color. She believes that while her beloved Manila gave her roots, New York has given her wings, and that the colors of both cities shine through in her work.
Sara is the creator of SARANOVELA, an illustration business focused on beauty, fashion, and a big dose of humor. Her portfolio includes work with the Bikini Art Museum in Germany, Baron Philippe de Rothschild in France, and collaborations with fellow artists in New York, the Philippines, Mexico, and beyond.
Saranovela is best known for its comic component: illustrated novelas focused on love, life and female empowerment. Laughter is medicine, and artists have responsibility to wield this weapon to provoke thought, conversation, and change. Weekly novelas can be found on Instagram: @saranovela.
All Saranovela illustrations are hand drawn using a combination of watercolor markers and colored pencils. All designs are original, unless otherwise indicated.
